Evaporation

Wastewater evaporation is a process for thermal separation of water from a wastewater fluid feed. Wastewater evaporation can be an extremely economical process. It enables the client to increase the concentration of the wastewater – minimize the weight & volume of waste to be hauled away by removing or minimizing the aqueous part of the wasteawater. This means fewer costs on disposal, fewer costs on transportation and total or partial reclamation of the condensed water as pure water.
There are many fields of application for wastewater evaporation:
  • Metal Finishing:
    • HCl Regeneration - Acid regeneration from Pickling bath & Rinse water – 99% of the acid can be recycled – Zero liquid discharge and Zero solid waste can be achieved.
    • Sulphuric Acid Regeneration – most of the sulphuric acid from pickling bath and rinse water can be recycled.
    • Oil emulsions - weight & volume minimization
  • Landfills:
    • Landfill leachate evaporation
  • Textile :
    • Dye wastewater
  • R.O. Rejects
  • Etc…

MVR – Mechanical Vapor Recompression

In a MVR unit most or all of the evaporation energy comes from the compressed vapors of the feed itself – electrical energy of the compressing unit. Low boiling temperatures can be achieved by operating under vacuum thus corrosive feeds can be evaporated as well without insvseting in costly materials of construction. MVR evaporation can reduce operational costs to about 4$ per 1,000 liters of distillate (assuming 10 cents per Kw×H).

Typical MVR Evaporator

Benefits
  • Minimization of transportation & disposal costs due to lower weight & volume.
  • Continuous operation
  • Energy consumption is at about 40 KW/m³ of distillate
  • Lower operating temperatures (when under vacuum).

Distillation & Rectification

Distillation & Rectification is a process for thermal separation of several components from a mixed
fluid based on differences in their physical characteristics. (Boiling temperature, volatility etc…). Unlike ordinary distillation, rectification processes include a reflux stream that improves the seperation process.
One major benefit of rectification in wastewater treatment is the minimization of weight & volume of waste fluid needed to be hauled away for disposal due to the better seperation of the mixtures than ordinary evaporation.

Benefits
  • Better separation of components than ordinary evaporation
  • Continuous operation
  • Minimization of transportation & disposal costs due to lower weight & volume.
  • Energy recycling is possible with vapor recompression.

Sludge Drying

Sludge weight & volume minimization

Biological Sludge Pre-Drying

Sludge drying is a thermal process for the minimization of the weight &  volume of wet sludge feed, by evaporating the water and drying the sludge to a concentration of over 85-90% solids.
Drying is a very common procedure both in production lines (drying of starch, food oils, pulp & paper products, bio-ethanol products etc...) and in environmental facilities (sludge weight reduction).

Biological Sludge – 100Kgs Dried ≈ 15Kgs dry product

There are many advantages in drying sludge wastes. One major benefit is that drying will reduce disposal and transportation costs. It is possible to dry centrifuge sludges and concentrates, MBR sludges, DAF sludges, filter press cakes etc.
Drying can also be used in order to remove VOC's in contaminated soils remediation process.

Benefits:
  • Reduced weight & Volume
  • Reduced transportation costs
  • Reduced disoposal costs
  • Removal of VOC's.
Applications:
  • Biological Sludge Pre-Drying
  • MBR sludges
  • DAF sludges
  • Filter press cakes
  • Sewage sludges
  • Dredged soils
  • Refinery sludges
  • Etc…

CAMF for a metal finishing wastewater treatment plant design

Miltech's Chemically Assisted MicroFiltration/UltraFiltration (CAMF/CAUF) Systems utilizes crossflow filtration modules with unique structural membrane tubes. These modules are extremely robust and chemically & abrasively resistant, and produce an excellent permeate suitable for Reverse Osmosis treatment, other water polishing unit or discharge. During operation, the feed fluid that comes from the pre-filtration chemical treatment array flows through the modules at high velocity, at a certain operating pressure. Clean fluid (zero suspended solids, bacteria free) flows through the pores of the membrane, while the suspended solids remain in the concentrated stream. The fast flow of the concentrated stream prevents the fouling of solids in the modules, providing high flux and prolonged filter module life. Chemically Assisted Microfiltration/Ultrafiltration can and will efficiently replace other traditional pre-filtration systems. We can guarantee consistent, reliable solid/liquid separations and long service life

Chemilcal Pre-Treatment

Miltech's biggest advantage comparing with other filtration OEMs is our extensive knowledge and experience in the chemical process industry. We will supply a tailor-made design for the entire plant's wastewater streams, suit the best chemical (or other) treatment for each separate stream.
